I find that Ibuprofen can mask the chills and body aches that signal infected congestion for me. If I were you, I would hold the advil for 8 hours and if I felt those things, I would start antibiotics. If not, then I'd hold off. </end quote></div>

I actually only take ibuprofren once a day, usualy at night before bed, so I do go all day without taking anything. This is a great point though! Many meds just mask our symptoms. That's why I usually only take cold meds if I absolutely need them, so I don't mask what I need to "know" about my colds/flu.

I don't know where you live, but here in Oklahoma, the fall season means major allergy season. Jordan always suffers with head cold-like symptoms. It causes his asthma component to flare up, and he gets quite miserable. Have you been tested for allergies? You said you don't "feel" sick, so it's something I'd explore if I were you.

Stacey</end quote></div>

I was treated for allergies years and years ago, but will bring this up at clinic next week. I was then only allergic to dust mites, but that was also when we lived in a different state, so its possible they weren't testing for things I AM allergic to that are here in the desert.

This may also explain why I didn't get any relief of my nasal congestion at all this time around when I took cold meds. Hmmmm....

I'm boiling my water for my first ever NeliMed Rinse as you read this! I'm excited to try something new that may give my nose and lungs relief. <img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif" border="0">

It's not to often that I'd even suggest this, but if you think that there might be an underlying problem- grab your antibiotic. Definitely try oral ones first; as if they work it'll save your veins one hell of a beating<img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-happy.gif" border="0">, and save your body from the rapid influx of abx doing harm to your system. I am not totally against taking abx, as if you're used to them, switching to anything natural will have little to no effect IF you do not cleanse your body first. I remember when I had a lung inflammation before I went in the hospital. I was desperate to get better without having to go in, and ran out of bactrim, so I ordered allicin. I read all good things about it and how potent it is. Needless to say, because of my lung inflammation, allicin didn't do a damn thing. Upon leaving the hospital, and after I cleansed my body of all abx, I tried allicin yet again, and noticed a remarkable result. My point is if you have an underlying CF induced bug, no alternative treatment IMO will rectify it; that's where traditional medicine comes into play.
