I mean no disrespect to you, Uli, and I have enjoyed and learned from many of your posts. However, how would we feel today if yesterday McCain had chosen a male running mate who had five children with one of them having CF? I think we would all be excited about the prospects of awareness being brought to the disease and good things that could come from his involvement with the CFF, etc. And let's not forget that this "pretend" VP candidate would like Governor Palin, have a spouse who could take a lead role in the children's care while he was running and serving in office.
I guess what I'm saying is...give this candidate a different gender and a child with CF instead of downs syndrome, and we would all be thrilled for what it could mean to the advancement of CF research.
Faulting Sara Palin for chosing to have a career would be like faulting every doctor, male or female, you've ever had for choosing a career that took them away from their family's dinner table. Some people have careers that are much more demanding on their time and thank goodness there are people in this world willing to take it. I know I couldn't. But we can't fault her just because she's a woman.
