Hang in there! It can be really hard to adjust at the beginning. I remember feeling like I just wanted to move my family to an island so I didn't have to deal with other friends/family. It will get easier and hopefully your friends and family will realize how much you need them. I will say that I have found some wonderful friends online and through participating in fundraisers for the CFF (especially Great Strides). That is a great way to meet other parents who are going through the same things. I would try not to give up on the people in your life just yet, they may come around eventually. Also, once I got through the adjustment period of my daughter's diagnosis (which put me in a terrible funk for many months, almost a year) I did get back into my previous social activities and that is really when most of my friends started asking questions, learning and getting involved. I think I had to put them at ease for them to be able to do that. It felt risky to me bc I was so emotional about it, but it has been worth it in the long run.
Many hugs to you!
