My new center has been running all these tests on me lately and they recently did a fecal test to look at my pancreas ability to secrete enzymes. My number came back at 500 which is totally normal.....

I have been on enzymes since dx, in fact that was one of the things that lead me to being dx. I have started to try to wean off the enzymes but so far I am getting pretty bad belly pains. Has anyone else experienced this before??

Wouldn't being on enzymes effect the test? I don't know, it is something to question. How can they tell what enzymes are produced by the pancreas and what enzymes are ingested?

I am completely sufficient, and I found out about 2 years ago- after many years of enzymes! I stopped taking them cold turkey- never had a belly ache or "greasy" poop so I know that I didn't need them. To this day I only take them if I know I am going to eat something extremely fattening/greasy/etc. I think the belly aches may be something you should talk to your doctor about- it may mean staying on the enzymes. Were you on enzymes when you took the test? I know when I took mine (and yearly after that) I am off enzymes for 3 days when producing my sample. I hope you get your answer soon!
