I need a bailout, how about you?

SarahJean, I agree. Even though I am all about President Obama, I do think they are going too far with this stimulus. I think it would be an excellent idea to give everybody that earned money a $50 K check. Many would probably save the money out of uncertainty about their futures, but a lot would quickly spend it and toss it into the economy, thus growing the pie. Think of all the jobs that could be created- people would have money for more goods and services, thus a bigger demand, so the company's would be forced to staff more people to assuage the demand. But I think the stimulus needs to be much more bulkier to have any kind of impact, I could be terribly wrong though. But I think for the GOP to be concerned about the deficit and government spending is inherently hypocritical, after all, we already spent trillions fighting their incredibly asinine war in Iraq.

Um...excuse me *raises hand*, but I understand that not ALL registered voters are actually U.S. Citizens.

I heard that anyone who takes a utility bill with their address on it can get a driver's license, and then (this is the loophole) they are also able to register to vote, no showing of any birth certificate, passport, or even visa (green card).
From this step, they can apply for a Social Security number, can't they, then from there they can get benefits, despite even paying into the SS funds.

So, if its every "registered voter", shouldn't it exclude "non-citizens"? and filter out the illegal alien problem that has been haunting the us since I don't know when?!

Same problem with "everyone who earns money"...how many "illegals" would fit under that catagory, and don't you agree that anyone who wants to live and work in the U.S. to get proper documentation to live there legally?!

Maybe then, by sorting out who legally deserves the "stimulus package", wouldn't it then be more for those who deserve it?!

Also, I thought this was something that GW Bush did way back in 2001?! History repeating, or just a Deja Vu?!

George W Bush did not order for the treasury to give out $50 k checks, so what he did was not even in the same ballpark as what we are talking about. Now I received a $600 check, labeled an "economic stimulus". It was not a stimulus at all, in fact I saved the money, as most Americans either saved it or used it to pay down debt. If you are going to do something, you had better do it right. Handing out a 600 dollar check to solvent an economic problem is a bit like placing a single band-aid on a shotgun blast, it'll prevent some bleeding, but certainly not near enough. Now on the other hand, 50k would be sealing the wound, stopping all bleeding, thus restoring a fixed system.

Now when I said "everyone who earns money", it could be said that anyone who paid taxes for x amount of years. (Because there are many who have not been able to find jobs that long)
