I need a bailout, how about you?

If the stimulus ends up being a trillion dollars, (or close to it) Mike Huckabee kind of mapped out what that kind of money would buy. Whether you like him or not, it's intersesting reading.

Don't let appearances fool you, Mike Huckabee is just as much as a bible-belt yahoo as Pat Robertson. I cannot even dream of supporting someone who is so decisively opposed to abortion, even if it is known that the fetus will suffer its entire life. The only thing I can think of that even resembles sanity on Huck's stances is that he said that torture is not constructive, but then he lost me when he likened GITMO to a Beverly Hills country club.

I don't think we should give money to each American, but to each American taxpayer. I personally don't think its fair to hand over a government entitlement check to a deadbeat "street pharmacist." That's why I think we should do away with welfare (rare for a liberal to say that:cool<img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-wink.gif" border="0"> but at the same time, increase unemployment benefits dramatically, along with disability. We need to reward the Americans that have the will and the intestinal fortitude to work, but cannot, due to underlying circumstances, opposed to rewarding laziness.

I don't know offhand that anyone will receive a stimulus check, as I haven't read the bill. I doubt much of the Congress has either.

Then I guess that leaves me out, too..despite being a U.S. Citizen, and still paying some sort of tax to the U.S. IRS, your stament suggests that I'm out of the picture...I never even got any "Stimulus Package" you mentioned that you recieved under the Bush Admin....which puts me -$600 cause I did pay a large amount of taxes then and was reimbursed from that, but never saw the additional $600!

And I'm waiting for my measley 15,000 yen check from the Japanese Gov, since I pay more there, and get back equally as less, anyway...

I guess its a race to see which country's got the best "stimulus package", so they don't embarrass their country with a small "package"..so "who's got the bigger one?!"

BTW, hasn't this "Stimulus Package" topic been going on in the news for nearly 6 months, now?! Same ole, same ole...all talk and no action from the Gov.

Fred, I think if you pay taxes, you should be eligible to recieve the stimulus. I said nothing that would suggest otherwise. I don't know what to say on why you didn't get that criminal Bush's refund.

I don't think any other country on earth has ever bought their way into prosperity. I wasn't aware that prosperity has a price tag. As a liberal, I believe in a big government, but Obama made the mistake of letting the far left Pelosi and Reid write the stimulus bill. I think they were just waiting for Bush to be out of office so they can unload a Christmas tree of pork thus bitchslapping the American taxpayers with the baggage. While I think the Republithugs used the wrong reason on why they oppose this bill, thus making them bigots and a bunch of phony's, by opposing it they are doing the right thing for the wrong reasons. I personally think tax cuts, as the Repubs suggest, sound like a damn good idea. But at the same time, the government needs to step in and fund healthcare a bit more- the more healthier a person is, the more likely they will be working. I also think funding the infrastructure is a good idea. Most of the roads where I travel are so beat up and tarnished. And to fix roads you need construction workers, which equals jobs.

I think as this economic stimulus currently stands, it's a barrage of unnecessary government spending, but tweaked quite a bit- like loaded with tax cuts and cut out the unneeded pork, will be an excellent piece of legislation that the President and Americans can be happy with.
