i am awaiting my surgery for my nose. so i can breath through it with my deviated septume. the dr came intoday and i told her about my back hurting and my knee and leg on the left side. She started asking questions like if my legs ever go numb , i said it has and it is at really odd times to. ill be sitting normal or something and then my leg feels like its numb and like its asleep. she asked if when my back hurts does it go down through my leg and i said that it does. sometimes my knee will let out and i almost fall. or my back will hurt and i cant move. other questions like that. then she asked if we have a history of bone cancer in my family. i didnt know so i said i will try to find out. i just found out that my grandfather had bone cancer when he died. and i guess you are at a higher risk to have osteoporosis which can lead to bone cancer (if you have cf) have you guys ever heard of someone with cf having bone cancer? do we (ppl with cf) have a higher risk? i need help.
thanks

Oh, Betty, I don't know about bone cancer, but hang in there- hopefully it is just a pinched nerve kind of thing, and something easily remedied. I will be praying for you! <img src="i/expressions/heart.gif" border="0">

That is a pretty big jump from bone pain to bone cancer.. Maybe your doctor was just asking because she was looking for a more complete history on you.

I don't have bone cancer, but I have a lot a bone pain and joint pain.. It is common for CFers to have bone pain.. and have it not be cancer

I will keep you in my thoughts

First of all, just try to stay calm. I know, easier said than done. It could be something as simple as a piched nerve (sciatica). That is actually the first thing I thought of when I read your post.

Second, I would check out the webmd symptom checker. I love this thing! You just answer some simple questions and it gives you possibilities of what it could be. Of course it does not replace a doctor, but it can help you figure out what to talk to the doc about! www.webmd.com

Third, visit the American Cancer Society's web site. My husband and I found this site to be such a help and comfort to us with his cancer. They also have forums for all types of cancers so you can talk to others and find out what their symptoms were and how they were diagnosed. www.cancer.org

I know its scary. If you want to please feel free to PM me anytime.
