I am also one of the ones that takes the motrin daily...1200mgs twice a day. I have noticed a HUGE difference! As ppl have said, I do go off of it while on IV meds, and I get a lot of pain in my sinuses (as the motrin has helped with my polyp problem as well). I probably started it about at about 13 and I am 23 now. I believe when I started it they had just finished studying it. My ENT actually told me that he had good results with his CF patients and I have not had polyps since then (when before they were coming and going very quickly, even with surgery).
I have not experienced many of the side effects either, unless I take it on an empty stomach. I did that once and man, will never do it again. It made me very sick to my stomach and I hate being 'that kind of sick.' I did recently start on prilosec for reflux problems, but I dont think it was necessarily b/c of the motrin. I tried to go down on the Motrin then, and I was very tight feeling in my lungs and ended up going back on the motrin within a few months. So now I am on the prilosec and the motrin and I am fine.
Azithromycin never did anything to help me much, btw. But also like others have said, every person is different. If you think it may help, def ask about it. Give it a shot and if it doesnt work, you can always stop. PM if you have any questions! <img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif" border="0">
