How much growth have you accomplished when your first reaction is to lash out against the person who has a different opinion than you? Discussion and debate are great but one must keep their responses respectful to be taken seriously. Anybody can call names and pass judgment but your opinion must have reason behind it to be valid. The reason can then be further debated. What happens in most of these so called discussions is that people tend to hurt people they don't agree with by calling them names and the discussion turns into a fight. There is a wide line between a discussion and fighting.

I know that you can block certain people, but from what I understand, that just blocks you from viewing their responses.

What if it was possible to set up your profile to block certain people from responding to threads you originate, similar to what you can do with blogs?
Just an idea. Then if you don't want to hear from my shaggy butt, you don't hafta.

Also, I guess I don't understand how Private Topics work...anyone care to share their vast knowledge with me?

If you've cared to read any of my posts in topics that are controversial, I try to be as cordial as I can in my first reply. I get snotty when someone gets snotty with me. Knee-jerk reaction, and I've always been that way. I always try to get my point across as peacefully as I can without losing my gusto on the subject. If someone bites me for it, I bite back. Simple as that. And I have never, EVER, called someone a name even if the idea is right on the tip of my tongue. I'm speaking only for myself, of course...

Perhaps we should have a license for posting on the forum. The first rule would be that you have to know how to spell licensing. Then we could do away with all the negative and disrespectful posts.

Just an idea that popped into my silly head.

I lash out at people with differing opinions...how could I?, you haven't given an opinion.

No, no Risa, I think this is a bad idea. If you post a thread in the forum, people should be allowed to respond. If you don't like what they say, you can respond, or not. To block people because they tick you off, or don't respond the way you want is defeating the purpose of posting. If that is how you want it--make a blog, not a posting on the forum.

The topic is history. So much for adult conversation and discussions here...now I'm getting PM's attacking me because I'm supposedly made a cowardly personal attack on Vampy.

I'l start posting them if I get more.
