How much did your child weigh at birth?
How many weeks pg were you when you gave birth?
How were your blood sugar numbers during the pregnancy?
How much weight did you gain during the pregnancy?

Most days I am really careful about what I eat but at the same time I wonder how CF and the lack of perfect digestion factors into all of this. Of course I do not want to expose my baby to high levels of glucose but I would really like to drink a large glass of cold milk!! Maybe this would be easier if I was craving junk food but I am craving healthy foods - milk and fruit and I have to watch how much of those I eat. GRRRRR. <img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-disgusted.gif" border="0">

Tom was 7#6oz at birth and Abby was 4#11oz at birth. (they are twins)

I was 38 weeks when I had my elective c-section. I never went into labor.

My blood sugar levels were fantastic once we figured out how to control them. For me, what worked was taking Humolog (fast acting insulin) at 1unit per 15g of carbs at my 3 big meals for the day. I ate whatever, whenever, and with this intervention my numbers were always in range (2 hours post meal they maintained 80-140) We tried long acting insulin, and that sent me into severe lows. There was no controlling my diabetes with diet. I was hitting the low 200's immediately after every meal and then bottoming out at 35 two hours later. Insulin was a godsend for me.

I gained 30lbs (with twins)

One thing I noticed while being diabetic is that exercise (even just standing up folding laundry) burned lots of sugar (for me). I had to watch my lows constantly. I could plummet, and fast. What I'm trying to say, is if you want that fruit, or milk, just go for it, but know you need to exercise to balance the extra carbs you just ingested. Also, if you pair the milk with a turkey sandwich you'll see a dramatic difference in the affect it may have on your sugar (meaning the protein slows down the sugar absorption, giving you a greater shot at having normal range blood sugars.) This might be redundant information, and I'm sorry if it is. I just want to you to be able to satisfy those cravings! I know how it is! Good luck.

How much did your child weigh at birth?

Lillian was 6lbs8oz

How many weeks pg were you when you gave birth?

40+ (induced one day overdue)

How were your blood sugar numbers during the pregnancy?

ideal, just monitored via food, a few high ones here and there but they said less than 3 slightly elevated ones was still great and I dont think I ever had 3 in a week

How much weight did you gain during the pregnancy?
LOTS (PS), about 40lbs

PS just because they tell you how many carbs that you can have its just a guideline, experiment with your milk and fruit (not at same time) and see what happens, I was able to drink milk just fine as long as it was with something. In beginning I was counting every strawberry but by the end I was able to eat normally just balanced differently. See what works for you, also melons and berries are very good fruit as they have less tendecny to spike the blood sugar (just fyi incase you didnt know) so they are a good way to start, apples ar good because the fiber slows down sugar load stay away from bananaas and citrus though, grapes woudl rocket my blood sugar if I ate mroe than a few (and who wants a 'few' grapes LOL so I refrained from buyin gthem).
