I'm allergic to my Kitty

OH NO!!!!!!!!! I'm allergic to my Kitty!! I had my allergy test done and it came back positive for cats. The thing is I've had a cat for the last 15 years. I moved out of my mom's house a year ago and then 6 months ago I got my own kitty. When I got Marley I started to sneeze and I've been more wheezy than normal (his fur is longer than my childhood cat). I really don't want to give him up because he is my baby boy <img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-sad.gif" border="0">
Anyone else allergic to their pet?

My understanding is that the ideal thing with allergies is to avoid what triggers them, BUT I also know people that figure out a way to work with the triggers.

I would think (I dont know for sure, but it makes sense to me) that you could get meds (shots, pills etc) to control the worst of the symptoms, but that you will always have a certain amount of problems by keeping your kitty.

Some doctors might not work with you like that feeling that you arent doing your part by getting rid of the trigger.

I havent followed thru on allergy testing, but I know that if I came back allergic to my animals I would "suffer" doing what I could to minimize it. My animals are part of my therapy and very therapeutic to me.

There has to be ways to ease your problems (even if you cant eleviate them) and still enjoy your furball! Like keeping the cat out of your bedroom, cleaning a certain way etc.
