I bought a digital timer...one that is easy to set for 30 or 45 minutes. The first two times we were on ivs, I was constantly resetting my alarm clock or cell phone alarm in the middle of the night in fear that I would sleep thorugh his iv and forget to unhook it. Once I bought the digital timer, it was so much easier to set and could also be carried with me in other rooms, unlike my alarm clock. Good luck to you and your son!

My daughter has had PICC lines before. It's really not too bad. She's had them in the summer and couldn't go swimming, so that was a bummer for her. She likes to sleep a lot, so the night time IVs weren't too much fun since she wakes up. Our biggest problem was the PICC line kept getting clogged and we had to go to the hospital to get it unclogged. We missed doses waiting to unclog it, so the line stayed in longer than anticipated. Best of luck to you!

Also, for covering the line when not infusing, try Babylegs. Some are really cute!
