In need of a pep talk - 38 weeks tomorrow

I am so done. I have no idea how I am going to make it 2 more weeks. I see my OB tomorrow and I really hope she will at least give me a date we will not go past because I need something to help me get through.
This is so bad but the other day I was walking into Target and slipped on some ice. I caught myself and did not fall but for a split second I womdered if falling would have pushed me into labor.
I cannot even remember when I last posted here but I will give a recap.
Last week all of us got a stomach virus. The kind of virus where you have to make the decision to sit on the toilet and throw up into the trash can or throw up in the toilet and take the chance on soiling yourself. It was just awful
While throwing up I pulled a muscle in my back/rib area. It hurts. Coughing is the worst.
I CANNOT SLEEP. Really I get like 3 hours of broken up sleep a night. I am nervous and anxious.
This week my feet and legs started to swell the CRAZY. I am normally a size 7 shoe and had to break down and buy a pair of 9.5 shoes so I at least can go outside with shoes on! My blood pressure and urine are fine so my OB is not worried about the swelling.
I itch.
I feel short of breath all of the time. It makes me feel anxious. Just drinking a glass of water leaves me gasping for air. My O2 stats are fine and my cough is normal for me.
Today I feel as if I have been run over by a bus. I took one OTC sleeping pill lastnight. I was able to get a bit more sleep but woke several times feels panic. I took two naps today and still fee foggy.
I am so sorry coming here to complain. I am thankful and blessed to have the pregnancy but I am really at the end of my rope and I need to get it all out.
For those of you who have been here please tell me how you got through the last weeks of pregnancy!

Anne,

I'm sorry you're feeling like this. The last weeks of pregnancy are really hard on anyone. Do you know what the root of your panicking feeling is? Are you nervous about labor? Is it the SOB feeling? Feeling SOB at the end of pregnancy was the first thing both my CF doc and OB told me would probably happen. Almost every woman feels like that at the end and it's only multiplied for us women with CF. And even worse was that you had a stomach bug last week. Not fun!!!

Anyhow, just talk to your doctor about your concerns and see what the next plan of action is. They might just want to induce you if you're feeling that badly, but they always try to get you to go as long as you can.

Good luck with everything. We'll be waiting for any baby news (now that you're in the 2-week range we can expect it any time!)

Have you tried taking extra DHA to help w/ the anxiety? You can do this. My SIL was in your position a few weeks ago and I just reminded her that this is what she wanted. She didn't want another preemie, she wanted to be huge and pregnant and miserable (She wanted me to tell her that - I never said it in a negative tone - more of an encouragement). I think you just need a light at the end of the tunnel. And trust me. Your baby will come when she is ready. She just needs a little more baking.

Maybe try some extra stuff to pamper yourself during these last few weeks. A massage or a spa visit for an afternoon?

You can do it, I promise. And I doubt you'll be getting any more sleep w/ a newborn

Lastly - You need to do something to address your anxiety. I don't have many suggestions - maybe some meditation? Or listening to some soothing music?

Either way, in a few weeks this will all be a distant memory.

Have you tried doing prenatal yoga? I took classes when I was allowed to during my second trimester and it was wonderful, it really helped the moms who were at or even past their due date. I did it at a local YMCA. It's definitely helpful for the discomfort and swelling, and will balance you mentally and prepare you for the birth.

Hang in there mama, you are doing great! Don't worry about your shoe size, you may even be very swollen for a while after giving birth so inducing labor won't immediately relieve it anyway.
