HI all,

Wondering if anyone can share some insight. Andrew still has his PICC line in. Tonight he started complaining of being weak. He said that when he breathes in deeply it feels tingly, and that his head hurts. He is running a fever of over 102. He did get a burst of energy earlier in the evening, but after that his fever spiked. He has had no appetite all day.

Problem is..I have yet to hear back from the pulmonologist on call. I know it's a holiday so I'm trying to be patient. Is this something you guys would press..call the hospital again? I'm wondering if it could just be a virus, but don't think with all of the meds he's on right now that it is probable that he picked something up.

Can I let this go through the night?

Thanks for those of you who are online right now, and Happy Thanksgiving!

I agree with MEL, I'd push it too...when he is complaining of feeling tingly--take him to the emergency...just for your peace of mind...and ours! Let us know...

Push it! Call the pulmo again. If he was worried about the holiday then he wouldnt be on call. His job is to answer his pages and any issues that come up. Since it is the first time, I agree with Mel, dont take a chance. Call the Dr every hour (or 30 mins, if u want) until you get a response. I would wait for a response for a few hours...maybe until 5am (if you are comfortable with that). If he gets worse or if you still fail to get a response then I would take him to the at the hospital that he is on call with, tell them you want him to come in, that you have been trying to get up with him for the pass <# here> of hours. If push comes to shove, report the dr to the head-knockers of the hospital because he is failing to do his job as a doctor.
