If my pulmo does not return my call within 1 hour I am SUPPOSED to call back, it is not 'pushing it' so dont feel bad. Besides, I at least woudl rather be called in the night before a holiday than on the holiday.

Thanks for the responses. I just heard back from the pulmonologist. She thinks this sounds like a virus and is having our home health nurse draw labs tomorrow to check for infection with the line or another health issue we need to address. I feel comfortable with that plan. I am going to stay up tonight and watch him closely because his fever still won't come down, but I've been up through the night for the last two and a half weeks anyway.

Keep you fingers crossed that this is a 24 hour thing. I appreciate all of the quick responses. Why do these things always happen on holidays?

Tonya, what meds is he on? My kids have gotten reactions to antibiotics after two weeks of IVs. Zosyn gave Josh fevers and a rash on day 12. Years later the same thing happened to Jesse. It happened about the same time as an infusion and lastest several hours.

Yep yep. Push it. The fever is a particularly troubling symptom. If you need to, call your doctor and tell him you'll meet him in the ER. I'm so sorry you have to deal with this over a holiday. There's never a convenient time for CF is there?
