Increasing Enzyme Dosage

Garran has been on a number of different enzymes, he started on Creon at Dx, then went to Pancrease, and now is on Ultrase MT12. When he started needing more creon they simply upped the dose and that was that, the pancrease he didnt take well, and the Ultrase he has been on 4 MT12's with meals and 3 with snack for a while, but I think it might be time for an increase.

As far as the poop frequency, Garran used to go every meal but with the Ultrase it has decreased to about 3 a day, My DH on the other hand goes every meal plus some, with out fail. And he doesnt have CF... <img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif" border="0">

Hope this helps.

Hi Liza, this article is long and a few years old (2005) but I think it has some good basic info:

<a target=_blank class=ftalternatingbarlinklarge href="http://www.healthsystem.virginia.edu/internet/digestive-health/nutritionarticles/goodinarticle.pdf
">http://www.healthsystem.virgin...les/goodinarticle.pdf
</a>
My daughter just turned 5 and poops once a day. She does occasionally have floaty poops and they are always a tannish/greenish color. I have only seen a "normal" looking stool from her a handful of times.

We've noticed an improvement with the increase/change in enzymes. More normal looking. Fewer floaters, less oil in the stool. Less frequency. I imagine we've probably been shorting him on enzymes from the beginning. No one apparently thought it was an issue because we've always been able to maintain a weight w/in the 50th percentile. Still gradually replacing the mt-4s with the mt-10s. Will be relieved when we finally have things figured out for the most part.

The daycare director asked if DS was constipated or why he thought he needed a scary book. Explained DS's confusion -- that we were changing enzymes and he was confused as to why he wasn't stooling every time he went to the bathroom.

He doesn't appear to have any abdominal distress -- stomachaches, constipation issues...
