We are in St. Louis, and my daughter had infant PFTs done at St. Louis Childrens Hospital (about 10 years ago). It was not a big deal to have done.

Reagan had an infant PFT four months ago. It looks really bad when the vest inflates, she grimaced a little bit but stayed asleep. I regret doing it because Reagan was in the hospital on IVs at the time, and I wish we would have done it when she was well. Her result was 57% and I have a hard time believing it to be correct. So we are doing another one in June, hopefully she will be in good shape then and can get some better results.

But the whole contraption just seems to disrupt their body's natural rhythm, I'm a little bit skeptical...just my opinion.

My son had his infant pulmonary tests done at 1 and 2. They wanted to check to see how much lung function was lost when he had a hemothrax at 5 months old. He had to have a chest tubes and be on the ventilator, 4 months home oxygen. I was very nervous but I feel the more we know the better. Im very glad the test was available. Iasked our new cf center here in Okc if they do infant pfts and they said no. We were living in Pheonix Az when we got the tests done and out of all 5 cf docs at that center only one Dr,could do the test so I feel like your fortunate to have this available to you. Damien has cultured muciod PA and had a real hard time bringing his o2 sats up especially at night.I want to compare the lung function before and after his first muciod PA excurbation. I guess ill have to wait untill he can do a pft.
