INFINITY PUMP PRODUCT ALERT

Hi,
I know some of you use the Infinity pump too and I wanted to pass along the important information we got today about a problem with the new screw top 500mL bags.

Our home health care company sent a flyer with the following statement:

"A caregiver of one of our patients recently called to report a problem with the Infinity 500 mL feeding bag with tubing (part #INFO500). The food pump was working in reverse. It sucked the contents from the child into the feeding bag tube instead of delivering food through the tubing into the child's stomach"

Then they explain that the tear drop on the green tube must face a certain way, it is incorrectly attached if going the wrong way. So, if you put the cassette in and turn the pump the long way with the black dial at the top, the tear drop on the green tubing should be going down.

I hope this helps prevent anyone here from having problems with it! I want our Joey back

Oh yikes. I hate the new bags (the way the neck is slanted it is difficult to pour the formula in without overflowing the bag) but this sounds fun. We haven't had a problem thus far but have only had one shipment of the new bags. We just got our second box since the switch to new (haven't opened yet.) It would be nice if they had 'lot numbers' of affected packages or something, like are often seen in product recalls, so it would be easy to check and see if we had affected bags?? HHC is not always cooperative about replacing equipment if insurance thinks it's 'too soon' so if we've already ripped open the package before we realize it's a problem that doesn't help matters.

Thank you SO much for letting us know!!

Moog is aware of all the problems patients are having with the new Zevex 500mL bags. My DME company told me they plan to return to the old design soon.

We never got the new bags. This is really bothersome!!!! I'm glad we don't have them, and right now we are on a full wean from the tube -- so I hope we don't have to go back.

Good- I hate these bags!! The first time I tried to use one I wore the formula, not realizing it was a SCREW TOP, lol... was trying to jam the top on and jam it on and jam it on...

These bags are also only about 1/2 as thick as the old ones. They feel like they will pop if you squeeze just a LITTLE too hard when you manually prime them. I do realize they are only designed for 24hr use but they need to be sturdy enough to be used in a backpack without exploding.

I know Moog knows about some of the problems but I am still bitter that they have't fixed them! As my DME said, you know if the people at Moog had kiddos with tubes, this would have been fixed long ago!
I liked the old bag tops but I like the new bag tubing since it know longer gets clogged in a backpack. But the whole hook at the top DOES NOT work well for a pole or the backpack! Ridiculous.
Well, now that there is actually a problem with the safety of the bags as well, I sure hope they speed up the remedy process! I have also heard that the Kangaroo Joey people are working on yet another new model, I personally cannot wait to see it
Good luck everyone, I hope we can catch that problem before it happens.
