Happy Saturday!!

I am a college professor. It has been the absolute best thing I have ever done!! I have more flexibility than I could ever imagine. My first year has been challenging, but no more challenging than my other jobs. It an amazing opportunity to teach others...go for it!!

My husband and sister-in law (who both have CF) and myself are teachers. My husband teaches and also coaches HS Boy's gymnastics (he and his sister grew up as gymnasts to help strenthen their lungs)

His principals and athletic director know about his CF and they gave him an extra period off in the morning, designated as the "gym management" period! He doesn't have to be at the school until 9:30. This is great because mornings are tough for you CFers, especially while on IV meds. He also has his luch and travel period (his gym is at a different school) back to back in the middle of the day, so this allows him enough time to go over to his parent's house to do a treatment (they live close by)

He is EXHAUSTED at the end of the day, especially during gymnastics season since there are lots of evening meets, etc. Overall, though, we recognize the many benefits from having a SECURE jb in this tough economy. He gets 10 sick days a year, and he can call a sub when he can't be there. In other jobs, you can't call a sub. The 2 weeks at Christmas, Spring Break, many school holidays and summers are also great "recuperating" times for tune-ups in the hospital, surgery, etc.

The way we look at it is there are positives and neagtives of any job, and right now, this one is taking care of all of us!!! We are al thankful we have good health insurance and can pay our bills! <img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif" border="0">
