I soooooo envy all you guys. With my CFRD its impossible to gain a pound and keep it. Weight is great for CFers because we are in constant battle so our reserves burn out quicker. And if your sick and don't eat, you lose that extra caloric intake needed to sustain the body while it repairs or replaces white blood cells. If it can't get the needed amino acids required for cell formation in the diet, it will turn to the fat stores. (being on a CF forum, I wonder if I need to explain what a fat store is....hahahaha) If it finds that the fat stores are empty, and there is no food coming in to replenish the loss, it will then turn to the only other obvious source of amino acids....the muscle. And let me tell ya, it ain't pretty. One of you mentioned bones sticking out? I'm like that all over. Although if your a physical anatomy buff, its kinda cool.....you get to see how the body moves from the outside. Congrats on all of you who have managed to gain some weight, and for the overweigh CFers (now thats an oxymoron) keep your weight. You will need it when your fighting off something truly serious. But, if your really miserable with it...just email me 20-40lbs. hehe.
