is it time for IVs

wow...sounds like what we are going thru..almost exactly!! 2 rounds of bactrim, then augmentin, cough...but she isnt acting sick at all!!!! last culture came back neg..but her lung xrays look very yucky, so in we go on tuesday! i have no idea how i am going to keep her busy!!! (i will need the medication by the time we leave).....

Update: We're here with a hopeful monday for release for home IVs. But her cough is pretty yucky and they won't let us go anywhere until it shows improvement.

Pulm wonders if maybe its reflux induced but she's already on reglan and prevacid, or if its just CF stuff that we can't find on the throat culture. He's leaning toward the CF stuff. We're pretty confused and that doesn't not make me feel good. Any insight would be terrific.

I don't know that I have insight for you, but we are thinking about you guys. Hopefully by Monday her cough will be better. If they are concerned that they do not know what she is growing, what are they treating her with?

The only other thing I would mention is that after Andrew has been on ivs a few days, his cough gets junkier and he starts bringing up all of the stuff that was trapped from inflamation. Maybe that's what is going on with Alyssa's cough? If so, that's a good thing. I'll keep my fingers crossed that that is why she still sounds icky.

She had had a bronch at that time; they found that her airways were very inflamed for her age...After she was discharged from the hospital; and home on IV's we started Pulmicort nebs twice a day recommended by the CF doc ; whether it was that or the long course of anti's I don't know but her cough petered out a couple days after the pulmicort and yet another round of oral zyvox. Some docs don't like pulmicort but she's been on it since that time; because She has a component of inflammation from her CF. These kids always keep us on our toes don't they?
