Is there a connection with cfers and insomnia?

I've had insomnia for about 8 years now. I've been trying to link it to something specific, but thus far have failed to do so. I rely on medication to sleep during normal hours.

Every time I am in the hospital, Dr's, nurses, and Rt's, always ask why most cfers stay up so late. So I gather from that, that its very common for us to have sleep issues.

When I am feeling healthy lung-wise, I sleep great. But as soon as I start feeling more congested or my lungs feel more full of junk, I wake up several times in the middle of the night to cough and catch my breath. I think its normal to have sleep issues if you have breathing issues. Our bodies go into different breathing patterns at night and anything that would complicate our breathing will cause us to have sleep interruptions. Just simply coughing a lot is going to cause us to have difficulty falling asleep or getting a deep sleep.
