I think Andee is right. Type II overweight diabetics are usually Type II because they are overweight... they're body is in a 'trauma' state and is not responding to the insulin they're producing. Once they start insulin, they actually GAIN weight, too... because when anyone's (CFer or not) blood sugar is too high they're peeing out calories and not absorbing them.
My Diabetes Doc was actually talking about this the other day... he said his overweight Type II patients get extremely frustrated. They come in, are diagnosed with Diabetes, start insulin and start a strict diet, and in the next few weeks... they GAIN weight. He said it's hard to convince them to continue dieting when those are the initial results!!!!
