Is this true?

We broke up, but not because of CF, he was just a selfish jerk. If the relationship can't handle the stress of the illness of a loved one, perhaps it just wasn't meant to be.

Our Government pays for most of our CF medications and treatment,(although things like D'Nase, Tobi and various vitamins etc.are not supplied) so we are quite lucky as far as costs go.

It is definately BS, based on a thread of truth, but only a thread.

The #1 reason for bankruptcy for years has been medical expenses; but not 90% and nothing specific to CF. FYI, I have a son with Hemophilia and his infusions run ~$21-22K/month and are based upon weight so will continue to grow. We expect to hit the $3,000,000 lifetime cap on our insurance before he reaches 18! So needless to say, the medical bill thing is a biggie in our house.

As for breakups, I have heard claims about the impact of medical issues, such as CF, Downs, MS, etc impacting families. But I think you have to take this in stride as I doubt anyone as actually studied it.. Honestly, who says "yep we are going through this nasty divorce because our son is sick" ~!@#$

I've never heard that and find it highly unlikely. Now, the average divorce rate in the US is 50% (I heard that recently on the Today show, so I'm trusting their research), so if you add the stress of a illness in there you might increase that to 60% or so, but 90% sounds ridiculous to me.And for the bankruptcy thing - total bull. I know lots and lots of families with kids with all sorts of medical needs and know of none that filed for bankruptcy.
