Isolation precautions

I was wondering what everyone's hospital does about your bugs.

I would like to know what precautions they take; such as gowning up, gloves, masks etc.

I know some hospitals are more strict than others. So I was just wondering what your does.

My last hospital gowned up for everyone that had resistant bugs but not all hospitals do.
The hospital that I am at now only gowns up for cepecia patients and also puts them on a seperate floor from cfers that dont have cepecia.
Please share your experiences.
Thanks

I have been hospitalized twice and both times I am put in isolation for my own protection. Some doctors gown up but others do not.

At least I am assuming it for my own protection. I have PA, and if I am isolated to protect other patients, it doesn't really make sense, since I am exposed to other people outside the hospital all the time.

ooooo thats really interesting to hear, khristina! i forgot to ask you about that. transferring MRSA and MDRPA from patient to patient scares the living daylights out of me.

i dont' think SC puts cepacia patients on a different floor, though. but that's great to hear about UCSD. that would make me really really happy!

I don't think I'm ever isolated. I know whenever I got to see my doctor, the receptionist offers me a breathing mask, but I always decline it. When I'm hospitalized, some doctors gown up, and some don't.
