The ER docs in my town have NO clue!

It's like they are afraid to even touch Briceton as they may contract something. They treat us like freaking aliens. They won't even touch him, having me do all the lifting and moving him about for a look over. This past time the freaking ER doc even had the nerve to bring in someone else, not even sure if it was a hospital employee, to view my CF child. Picking and looking at my little boy's fingers as if he was a circus freak! Pissed me off, mind you this is NOT a teaching hospital so this was NOT students. I was so taken back that I was speechless! Needless to say, I have learned to either drive the 3 hours to the ER at the hospital that our CF clinic is located or to insist that he be immediately transferred by ambulance/helicopter.

Its total lack of education on the doctor's parts and the hospitals! But that still gives them NO right to treat my son life a freak! As you can see, this is a sore subject for me!

I have also made that same decision due to the incomptence and lack of compassion. If Damien is in an emergancy sitiation. I made it clear that transport is all we will be needing from our local E.R. Call me crazy but compassion should be a requirement when dealing with children and if you dont have the education for dealing with a child with C.F dont pretend too. I have a sore spot in my heart on this issue. My son being only 2 the spot is still pretty raw myself.

Sorry I haven't been able to check in since I posted this. My boys have both been pretty sick. Yes the e.r is at a childrens only hospital with a cf clinic. Been dealing with 2 boys running fevers. In the 102 - 105.7 range with fever meds. Been to the ped the cf clinic the behav ped. My youngest lost his therapy he is autisic.

My oldest has another rash. They both had (roseella) spelling? Yes now that he is through with that he has another weird rash.

My youngest is after 13days still at 104. Took him to the doc today. Called the cf clinic. Worried about his liver chir and all the fever meds. They told me to see his ped. Cause it had nothing to do with cf. Ped was mad.

Turns out we are now hunting a bact infec. Also have Kidney problems. Had to do a blood culture. They thnk the infec has entered his bloodstream. Waiting for those and going to do a liver kidney and bladder ultrasound.

Also found out he has has a signif change in his chest xrays in the last 2 months.

Oh how scary!!! SHame on your CF docs. When your kid is sick like that of course it becomes a CF issue. I would be so angry (good for your ped for speaking out). Be strong, don't let them treat you like this.

Here's something you might want to mention. Last year my son went through a similar stretch of fever. It turned out to be a mycobacteria that wasn't identified until later. He was tested for everything!!! The rashes turned out to be reactions from all the meds.

Please let us know the results of the testing.

Good luck to you.
