It's been a year since we found out.....

Being a parent of an 8 year old that went through the meconium elias at birth when he was born at 34 weeks. He had a colostomy for about 1 month and then reconnection surgery. We found out a week or so after he was born about the CF. I do feel that it will get better. I can honestly tell you I thought that I would never be one that would be able to say "My son did that or my son went through that 8 years ago". We do have a 3 year old that was born at 36 weeks and only spend 1 extra night in the hospital. I really feel it takes a couple of years to get into the routine, to get used to the fact that your child/children have CF. I would celebrate as much as you want it is your right.

I don't feel sad much anymore, but I do still sometimes wonder "why us". I know that both of our boys could have something totally different and that if GOD didn't feel we could handle it he wouldn't have given us these two beautiful gifts. It does get better at least in our case it did.
