I've got to say this and it's not going to be pretty...

There's a difference between offering advice on what CF is like, what it does, what's coming... and asking someone to leave the forum because you don't like their behavior. Allie never asked to be treated with more care. What Julie did was incredibly rude, and there was no need for it. If she wanted to say things like that, I think they might've been better served in a blog or something.

Julie was blunt, and she didn't sugarcoat. But basically she said "Well I'm special, and I'm going to tell you who creates the problems, and I'm going to try to fix it." Who is she to say who should stay or who should go? That's not a matter of being blunt. That's a matter of thinking she owns the world and taking liberties she doesn't have the authority to take. Last I checked, she wasn't any more or less "queen of the world (forum?)" than the rest of us.

So Julie... what do you have to say for yourself? I noticed you posted and ran... didn't want to stick around for the drama you caused?

"Allie never asked to be treated with more care. What Julie did was incredibly rude, and there was no need for it"-Emily

I agree with you Emily-I just wanted to clarify if I didn't make it clear enough in my post-I know that Allie hasn't asked for more pity or more support right now-but anyone that reads her blog, any of her posts, and knows her even a teeny bit-should be aware of her situation this month particularly.

And I don't care-I just think it's basic kindness to let things go-in this case Allie hs nothing to be accountable for. But even if she did-I think you could give her a pass right now. I AM NOT trying to toot my own horn-But to me this is MANNERS!!!!!!!!!!! And kindness to someone suffering right now.

Sean, I was replying more to what... *scrolls down for the name* Debi said. Not you.</end quote></div>

Oh I know. I was just stating that i'm bored now. Don't have much to do till I have to go in at midnight to work. This thread was fun for a while though, it gave me several laughs.

Here's a slight difference, Allie didn't start a thread that says "hey new Mom's of CFers guess what? Your kids are going to die one day"
And I still don't think what Allie said was rude, wrong or offensive, even when I read it trying to put myself in a Mom's shoes. Luke made it stand out and put the emphasis on the end result.

I also still believe that when questions are asked in the ADULT CF forum it should be respected that we have for the most part been through some of the uglier parts of this disease and we are literally past the stage of being able to "pretty it up". I find it intersting that a lot of the ones who are so bothered are for the most part people who have not yet walked through this stage. I am walking it and let me tell you I find great comfort in talking to people i can be straight with. Who i don't have to always be in a good upbeat, can do, will fight the good fight, state of mind.. Sometimes it's very refeshing to say, i'm tired and this stinks. I know some of you don't want to hear that yet. All I'm asking is you is to skip my posts then. Sorry if my ocassional bouts of sadness and anger over dying of CF makes you uncomfortable or depresses you.....but this is one of the few places I can call it as it is.

Another thought to chew on Julie. fast forward your life a few years and try to picture what kind of posts you'll be making in 10yrs. Would you possibly be looking for people you could sit around and talk to without having to talk delicately to preserve their sensibillities - you know...no sugar added?

I read your first line as "Sure to cause some NIPPLES in the pond" and all of a sudden my boredom vanished. Alas, seeing what you really said, my boredom is back <img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-sad.gif" border="0">

Considering it was Julie that typed this post, I highly doubt she did it for the intention of "making things interesting again around here" so to speak. That's more something Myself or Allie would do, because that requires some level of evil genius.

Wow...Julie, I've always liked you and I think you have a lot to offer to this site. But I'm not sure I'll ever look at your posts the same again. If people can't handle honest responses from random people on the internet, then they need to get a backbone. I'd rather get honest responses (even if they are rude) than sugar-coated anything any day. I personally try to always respond nicely even if I disagree with someone...but I would never take it upon myself to try and tell someone else how they need to behave.

I've been lurking on this site off an on for a number of months, probably almost a year -- I particpate on the CF Chat site and one of the reasons I have been so apprehensive about joining this group is because of a couple people on this site, who used to be involved with CF Chat. One threw a tantrum and quit because of a supposed slight during chat. And another was Julie who I seem to recall also quit -- threatened to quit --- and then ranted and raved on this site about all the good she's done for people on that site they didn't show proper appreciation yadda yadda yadda -- think it was around the hurricane. Anyway at that time with all the drama, I looked at this site and decided to keep lurking.

I just want to say that most of us DO NOT agree with Julie.

The people she named give out some great advice, and have been there for me when I have had questions, or just needed to rant.

Julie, I know you were trying to make a point, but to say we should ban people is JUST WRONG.

Just my 2 cents worth!

Well, one can imagine that if the pond was chilly (what one would expect in early May), nipples would indeed be the expected result.

Now all I can picture is a pond with nipples floating everywhere, covering the surface!!! <img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-shocked.gif" border="0">

After reading this thread, i've come to the conclusion that not enough people got beaten up at the bus stop when they were kids, or atleast not a good enough beating. If and when I become a cop and I happen to see a kid getting beaten up at the bus stop, i'm not going to stop it. Some people just didn't have enough sense punched into them when they were younger. I don't want to run into them again in 20 years (if i'm still alive), or god forbid my offspring runs into them, and has to deal with their stupid, that I could have prevented by allowing them to get a biblical ass kicking at the bus stop.

See guys, everything is cyclical. Like Terminator 2. The future is what we allow to happen now.
