My first room in the hospital, I had a cystic as a roommate. We would play pranks on our respiratory therapists, order pizza with the nurses, and push our beds together to watch movies - with popcorn, extra salt. It was actually pretty fun. Then they introduced the infection control stuff, and HIPAA, so you couldn't even see people's names on the board at the nurse's station. It made things scarier and lonlier, even though it was for our benefit.

I hope they didn't glamorize CF too much in the movie. Sure, getting the word out about CF is great, but not if it seems nonthreatening. (going to try to watch it today if I can find it)

I think one of the parts of the movie that did touch me was seeing the young adult CF girl share a room with a younger CF girl(who needed a lung transplant). They did push their beds together, and talk. I felt sad my daughter would not get the opportunity to get that bond with a real life person with CF; cause of all the restrictions , now with infection control. Also, it was explained in the movie that CF has no cure, is fatal, causes digestive problems and lung problems. I think it was good in the way, it's easy to see someone with CF and not know they have this life-threatening illness and all they go through. Course, it is just a movie and people want to be entertained but a few good issues were touched on. What you want to do with the time you have in your life. The CF actress did say, sacastically, if I'm lucky I may live to be 40.
