Job Interviews

I possibly have a job interview next week. I have to call the company on Monday to set a day up to go in. My question to all of you older CFers is:

How to I bring up the topic of benefits without making it known I NEED them?

The thing is I will not leave my current job if the benefits are not as good at this place or at least almost as good. I love my job and the benefits but the drive is kind of far. This new place is closer to home and more Interior Design related (Kitchen and Bathroom design to be exact). I don't know how to be subtle in asking because it has never been a huge issue before.

Any thoughts and advice????

Thanks!!

I think it's a big deal to us CFers cuz we're all deadly afraid of an employer finding out we have CF (I am too, so I'm right there with u).

But for people with kids, or maybe for other reasons, benefits are an important part of the "compensation package." So keep thinking of it that way - just like you want to know details of your salary, bonus, 401(k), pension, you always want to know about health insurance. Maybe ask detailed questions about something else in addition to health insurance, like 401 (k), (what type of mutual funds are offered? how much does the company match? is it based on performance? ) in addition to asking detailed questions about health insurance. that way you can feel like you're covering yourself.

good luck chica i'm interested to see what others have to say

What I did for my last couple interviews was made no mention of benefits, it kinda throws up a red flag! When I got an offer for employment, I then proceeded to ask for a comprehensive benefit explanation. They then sent me a copy of the benefits, which I then used in weighing my decision. Once they make an offer, they can't rebut it because of health stuff, so I try and just leave it out of the equation until the offer is made.
