joint pain

So, I have been having a lot of joint pain--knee, hip, shoulder, wrist, knuckles. It doesn't seem to stick with one side or the other and different parts hurt on different days. We tested for RA, but I don't appear to have elevated levels for that. I do have a low level of Vit D--11 and it should be between 50-80. I also have a low level of Vitamin A. On top of that, my blood sugars have been high, but I think we fixed that by adding Lantus at night.

Anyway, I am wondering if anyone here had joint pain from low vitamin levels (or high blood sugars) that went away after they fixed that issue. Thanks for any responses or suggestions.

I also have horrible, horrible joint pain .. its been really bad for a couple months now. I also thought it was my vitamin levels for a while..turns out after all types of bloodwork, my vitamin levels were pretty normal, I am only low on vitamin D .. so i was put on 5,000 IU a day. Well..whatya know .. ive been taking it for about a month now, and no difference .. i also have cfrd, and my blood sugars were very elevated back in august, but theyve come down alot since then, and still .. excruciating joint pain. I complain about it everytime i go to the doctor, and they just kind of brush it off..and it really pisses me off because its become so bad that i can barely ever sleep at night because im in such pain, and i dont know what to do..i recently have been having unbearable pain in my legs, like my calves, knees and ankles..and it hurts sooo bad .. i am at such a loss, its like nobody can figure out what is wrong with me .. im ready to like go to a pain management clinic i dont even know anymore, im in such horrible pain all the time i feel like i have arthritis and im 90 <img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-sad.gif" border="0">

I just posted with a similar problem and I think it is due to Levaquin. Have either of you used Levaquin or Cipro lately? I have used both for years with no problems, but my last dose of Levaquin has resulted in terrible joint pain.

I've had similar pain in my legs like Katherine was saying and I get random pain in my joints sometimes but I've never been told its associated with Vitamin levels. I am also taking Vit D 50,000 u once a week as well as Citrical +Vit D 1500 everyday. I recently had an Endo appt at Cleveland Clinic and we asked if the bone/joint pain would be associated with osteopenia/osteoperosis and he said no. Now that doesn't mean you/we couldn't have some normal arthritis but this pain seems way beyond that. Usually advil does it for me but if it gets really bad I end up taking a Vicodin or Oxy IR that I was given for chest pain and back pain in the hospital.

My docs said it is my body's way of responding to the infection in my body-- in my lungs or my sinuses. Very common in CF. My docs prescribed me prednisone or I can do OTC pain meds (Just not both).

I am fighting an infection right now and my joints are stiff, swollen and I am in quite a bit of pain.

Yeah, actually .. Deb, i was on Cipro for a little while this year and that did cross my mind also because i know it causes tendonitis and joint pain sometimes, but i was told when you stop taking it, the pain usually stopps, and i stopped taking it like a few weeks ago. And to mag - yeah they prescribed me ibuprofen 600mg .. and then they tried naproxen 500 mg - neither helps at all really. Oxycodone or vicodin does usually work but i can barely ever get any because my CF doc really doesnt like giving out pain meds..and it really bothers me! I don't think any of us should be in any more pain than we already are, i just dont think its fair <img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-mad.gif" border="0">

im sorry to hear that...im 23 and feel like im 90 so i can only imagine what you really feel like...i have the same issues and its NEVER gone away, i've had this problem since i was 15 and its only getting worse..i had a bone density scan done at 15..they DX me with oseoprosis..and now my wrist get to where they pop outta place and brings me to tears..i talked to my doctor they didnt do any kind of test but he told me that most likely i have arthiritis <img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-frown.gif" border="0"> i've not found anything to ease the pain like i want it to..i have found that a heating pad..or heating blanket helps it alot especially during the winter because this cold weather is NOT helpint at all..its only making it worse for EVERYBODY..i hope you find something or i hope you get test done soon..and stay ontop of your doctor complain about it all the time thats what i had to do ..and you might just have to go see a bone doctor for that...good luck...(MERRY CHRISTMAS)<img src="i/expressions/present.gif" border="0">
