Just curious...

Its good to know that breast feeding is a possibility! I don't know why, but I just always assumed that our milk would be lacking in some vital nutrient....CF effects everything else, why not breast milk? But I'm relieved now!

I don't know, but I am willing to bet that it's fine - seeing as our kids are all healthy. I did sign up at http://neonatal.ama.ttuhsc.edu/lact/ to offer milk samples for lactation research, but i haven't been contacted yet.

I think also, if your vitamin levels and stuff are normal on your bloodwork then they would be normal in your breastmilk.

I also think there are so many benefits to breastfeeding as far as immunities, bonding, etc. that it would be a shame if CF moms found that their milk was lower in say....vitamin K and so they were discouraged from breastfeeding.

Thanks for this website! I submitted myself as well.

In addition it is looking like I am not ditchign this illness on my own so I will probably start on cipro or iv's today and I looked up all the posts and questions on such. Thank you.

In addition I want to start on xolair this month and had been referred to Dr.Hale's site by my lactation consultant but did not find this part site which is much ebtter. I will have them post my questions asap.

Thanks!

--oh and I agree I would hope if they find that cf pancreatic insufficient milk is deficient in somethign then a vitamin would be added or whatever BF is too beneficial to eliminate. I had my vitamin levels tested after birth just to double check myself.
