Kiana has clinic tomorrow

So Kiana had her clinic appt on Wednesday and I think it went pretty good. She is 16 lbs and 27" long so she gained about 2 lbs since her last visit. They are referring us to a GI specialist for her tummy (just in case my switching formula in a temp. thing). Walmart was out of the normal stuff she drinks so I had to get another kind and since I switched her stomach, gas, nad trouble pooping hasnt been nearly as bad! Other then that, they say she sounds good. OH and they have her on Renididin (sp?) because they think she may be breaking down her enzymes too late which could also be causing the pooping problem. Kiana's heart murmur was still there but it wasnt as loud (could be cause she moving and the dr had trouble) so she is still unsure about referring us to a ped. cardiologist.

They did a quick check of Alysa (her appt isnt till May). Her bloodwork showned her immuniglobin levels at 1400 still but the thing they wanted to happen didnt so they are concerned (sorry I was confused about that as well). So they arent sure what allergen Alysa is fighting off but they think it could be mould (ABPD?? or something??) so they are sneding us to an allergist and in the mean time they are going to put us on a waitlist to get a bronchoscope done. They think her issue is lower down in her lungs and when they do throat swabs they arent getting it so that is why everything is coming back fine when its not (?)

Anyone's child been through that? Not sure how I feel right now.

Sounds like a good visit. We went through the bronch last October. Its hard on you, but overall a very quick and easy procedure. I think its a really good diagnostic and they will have many more answers afterwards.

My daughter was scheduled for a 7:30am bronch. We went in at 5:30, they took her in after 7:20 or so and we were sitting with the docs discussing how it went by a few minutes after 8am. We were with her again before 8;30. So its very quick.

I'm glad the visit went well. I hope the tummy issues turn out to be just a little bump in the road.

I was glad to see Heather's post saying the bronch wasn't a long and awful procedure. I hope you have the same experience, and I hope it gives you the answers you need.

Thanks for the update. I'll keep those positive thoughts going.

The ABPD I am guessing is Aspergillus and is normal for CFers to get. The treatment is a 6 month course of a spornox antibiotic and last for a minimum of 6 months. In Nathans case, it has been over a year and he still grows it and it is still an issue at times for him.

A bronch sounds like a good idea. I would recommend asking if you can take them off ALL antibiotics for a week before the procedure to get the best results. We had issues for over two years with Nathan being really sick, doing tune-ups every 3 months, and no good answers for it. Then we finally took him off ALL of his antibiotic for a acouple weeks before the procedure and then we finally got some good results.

Its always hard to know exactly how to feel with these kinds of appointments especially when you are sooooooooo hoping for a simple answer or solution.
