miniature golf, anything outside. He has trouble with the heat even when he's
not outside for long periods of time. He plays inside at camp, but a lot of the

DS isn't really bothered by the heat -- he loves being outside; however, he drinks water frequently and takes frequent hits off his salt shaker or eats pretzels. A friend of mine's daughter tends to get overheated; however, it doesn't seem to limit her activitiy.

I think I read on a previous post that Ethansky's mom has her boys take salt tablets as they live in Hawaii = high heat and humidity.

Piper (10) gets overheated as well, her cheeks literally turn bright red (not sunburn). She had golf camp last week from 9-12 in the 95-105 temps, I froze bottles of water and gatorade and packed salty snacks for her each day. She made it through, but she was worn out and napped each afternoon.

Yes Liza, we have been doing salt tablets and they are working great. Any time I see the boys turning a little red or just suspect that the heat is going to get them, I give them a 1/2 tablet with a whole glass of water and it really seems to make a difference!

I think I may give these a try as well. Emily has been having more trouble than usual with the heat this year. Can the salt tablets be swallowed whole with the water or do they have to be dissolved into something? **not that this would necessarily be a problem, since Emily has been craving salt like crazy and a beverage of choice lately has been a glass of water spiked with a vial of hypersal! (we have some extra and believe it or not, she considers this a big treat!) **

Amanda, Emily also turns BRIGHT red~ she was outside at a friends' house recently and came in a bit overheated and my friend thought for sure she was fried! It takes a while to cool down and plenty to drink before she looks normal again.

They are in tablet form. I just break one in 1/2 and the boys swallow them. We also do elete electrolyte in all their water.
http://www.amazon.com/EleteTM-24-6-Ml-Pocket-Bottle/dp/B0018N27UY/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1312165512&sr=8-1
It tastes a bit salty to me, but the boys cannot tell the difference between water with elete added in vs. "normal" water. It seems a bit pricey, but a little goes a long way. I am getting a bit frustrated though, as I can't seem to get it shipped to Hawaii
