I'm with Caroline on this. You never know. My Mom and Dad had two kids, and both my sister and I have CF...They were both carriers with no known family history on either side.
I was diagnosed at 3-month-old as a failure to thrive baby. My parents decided to take a second chance because they thought it surely wouldn't happen again...My sister was diagnosed immediately upon birth and nearly died twice after delivery...
Having one child with CF is easier than two. I watched my parents struggle finanically. I watched them nearly lose our home. I watched many, many fights exchanged in regards to lack of money from having two kids with CF. I watched them nearly get divorced...Even my own extended/immediate family shunned my Mom and Dad for making the decision to have a second child who ended up having CF. My parents had little help with either of us when they needed them most! My Mom even had to quit her job to raise my sister and I because no would help...
Taking the chance to have a second child is something that needs great consideration. Just take your time and enjoy your sweet baby! She is so cute!!! <img src="i/expressions/heart.gif" border="0">
