Letter for Daycare or Nursery

I'd like to send home a letter to the parents of my child's nursery at church explaining to parents the importance of not bringing sick children to church.

Does anybody have a letter regarding this issue that they may have sent at a daycare or other nursery situation?
Thanks!

I have never sent such a letter. I did speak for a few minutes at pre-school parent orientation to explain that Alyssa has CF and a feeding tube and gave them some informatioin about how to answer quesitons their kids might bring to them regarding the tube. I also said that for her, a simple illness could become a hopsital stay and that it would be helpful if they will send their kids to school only when they are healthy. I said that if someone bring their child ill, I will likely leave with Alyssa rather than let her stay and that its nothing personal, just that I'll need to protect my daughter. The other parents have been really great and I have not run into an issue.

Our daycare has been pretty good about sick kids, letting us know what if anything is going around. School they have a no fever policy, and check the kids when they return back to school after being sick. His teacher indicated that she had problems with some parents loading their kids up with tylenol and then by 1 p.m. the kids 'suddenly' got sick again. She put a reminder in her class newsletter that there is a student with CF in the classroom and to not send kids to school until they're well.

In Max's 504 plan in the beginning of the year we asked that the school enforce their sick child policy. With H1n1 parents, the schools are being much more congnizant of this. We've never sent a letter out to other parents. Or worst problems are with relatives at holiday get togethers.

Hi,
I am having some of the same issues. I feel like people don't know what cystic fibrosis is, it's just this big word to people, and they don't know that germs can be very bad for our children. I don't worry about people bringing sick kids to my church because our church is so small, most people know not to do that, but I worry about other things, like making sure his paci is not picked up off the floor and returned to him without being washed. Or did the nursery worker wash hands after nose blowing. I know I want my child to be treated normally, but if there are are steps we can take to keep them healthy and feeling good, I want to take them. Have you thought about people wearing perfume? I know sometimes people have held my four-month old and he comes back smelling sweet. According to older and wiser members of this forum, this could be an irritant, that over a slow period of time could cause inflammation. I would like to write something so people would know a little more about how CF affects the body, but at the same time, I don't want him treated like a fragile creature from another planet. I will see if I can come up with something for us - some logical tips and info that would be helpful for people to know. Feel free to PM me any time because our situations sound familiar. It sounds like we are at the same point in dealing with this diagnosis. My son also presented with MI.
