I need some help here! I have been looking to find a couple of costs associated with Cystic Fibrosis. I need the following and let me know if you know where I can find the information:

Yearly average medical costs associated with Cystic Fibrosis

Average cost of a lung transplant

Are you looking for the prices with or without insurance? Because it makes a huge difference; without insurance prices could skyrocket into the millions (depending on how many hospitalizations occur). My Dad once told me that every time I went into the hospital for the regular old 2 week stay it was at least 250,000$. But with insurance our portion was only 800-1200$.

Here's a site I found that did a study... although the study took place in 1996 when things such as the VEST or Tobi, coliston, cayston, eflows, etc. were not out then... so I'm sure the cost of things has risen a bit.

CF pharmacy updates that in 2008 it showed WITH insurance average patients with CF costs 40,000$ a year. <a target=_blank class=ftalternatingbarlinklarge href="http://https://www.cfservicespharmacy.com/CFImportantNews/ImportantNewsCysticFibrosisPatientAssistance/">--CF pharm link--</a>

I found this really cool website called <a target=_blank class=ftalternatingbarlinklarge href="http://www.healthcarebluebook.com">Health Care Blue Book</a>. You can see what a variety of health services should cost without insurance. It tailor's it to your location (things at big city hospitals tend to be more expensive).

Perfect example. I had an abdominal ultrasound as part of my tx evaluation. I just received a bill in the mail saying the test was $950, insurance pain $190, and I'm responsible for the rest. I refuse to pay the $760 because insurance covered what the test actually cost. Either it was a billing error, or that's how they pay for the uninsured, and god help us, all the illegal immigrants burdening our health care system.
