Life insurance

I know this has been asked before, but I'm not getting exactly what I'm looking for from the old topics.

Could those of you who DO have life ins. coverage share the following if you are willing?

1. What state do you live in that this company offers coverage
2. What company do you have that offers coverage
3. What is your benefit amount/type (if you know)
4. Can you please share the approx. amount you spend each month.

I'll go first,
1. WA state
2. State Farm
3. $50k (have other coverage through the military at this time)
4. $16 a month

Thanks!!

I'm also interested in knowing this, particularily for those with CF... I was always under the impression I would be denied any and all life insurance policies due to CF and now CFRD (diabetes is a big one they won't give life insurance to, I guess)... So, although I cannot help, Julie, I share in your inquiry!

Thanks.

Here is mine:
1. Illinois
2. Western-Southern Life
3. 20,000 total (2 policies)
4. $23.80 per month

I've had mine since I was a kid. My mom actually got the policies for us (not sure how she went about it with us having CF). Once I turned a certain age (think it was 21), I had the option of purchasing more coverage and would only be able to get it at that time (not sure why). So, what I have now is all I am able to get.

I'm based in CA.

Life insurance for self in the amount of 2.5 x base salary.
Life insurance for spouse in amount of 1.5 x my base salary

I'm not comfortable sharing what those exact amounts would be, but it's my opinion that having this coverage is nothing short of a godsend. My contribution to the group term life insurance, per pay period, $0.64.

Neither of us needed to pass a health screening for the life insurance. If I wanted to take out a bigger policy, a screening is necessary, but we figured leave well enough alone. The policy through the company actually covers life, death, and accidental dismemberment. I guess in my line of work you can't be too careful!

Please don't think me secretive, but I cannot say what company I work for without compromising my employee ethics statement. I can tell you that we are a global company, and we do mostly government work.

My life insurance policy through work(colonial I think) matches my salary for free. Then I get a 80K more for $10 a pay check(you don't have to get a physical under 100K). I also have a travel policy through unum that I took from my old work that is $40 a quarter for 80K. On top of that I have an old policy through my dad for 100K at New York Life Co. that the premiums have been waived since I was disabled when I was 19.

My most beloved insurance isn't my death coverage it is my life coverage. Through my work I have a plan where if I ever get a transplant I get paid 75K(i think that is the amount) for $7/pay check.

Of course I live in wild wonderful WV!

Hey Julie,
My situation is a little bit different due to my husband & I owning a business. But my husband has one million dollars of coverage (called an umbrella) for both of us (1 mill. each). This is in case anything would happen to the company, I'd be ok without him and he'd be ok without me for a while until the money that is tied up could be used as we please. (we'd have to pay out a lot to cover payroll, bills, etc.)
This might be a idea to kind of 'think outside the box' when it comes to life insurance. I would have never been able to get that kind of coverage without the business aspect.
I don't know how much it is a month due to the fact we pay the CPA (not the insurance co) directly.
If you have any questions that I might be able to help you with, just PM me.

1. What state do you live in that this company offers coverage
2. What company do you have that offers coverage
3. What is your benefit amount/type (if you know)
4. Can you please share the approx. amount you spend each month.

1) New York State
2) Combined Life Insurance of New York
3) $25,000 & $15,000
4) $170./year and $73./year

*****IMPORTANT NOTICE~~~Both of these policies were purchased before I had a CF dx on filel. After I took them over at the age or 18 I made the mistake of not paying my premiums. Even tho the premium came out of the cash value, once I "broken the agreement" of not paying the premiums myself, I lost both policies. This gave them the excuse to sneak CF in there. Healthy people wouldnt have this problem. In order to reinstate the policy it would have had been a new policy which wasnt feasible since CF is on their no-no list. SO should you be able to get life insurance DONT EVER EVER EVER LET THE PREMIUM NOT GET PAID EVEN IF IT HAS THE OPTION OF IT COMING OFF THE CASH VALUE!
