some of you asked for the link to the article/news station website...so here it is! If you guys want to email them or call, Kim Wheeler is the one who did the story. I called her and left a message this weekend, but I'm not sure if she'll get it, as I left it on a saturday. I'm going to try and call during the week over and over until I can get in touch with someone, lol. I'm not pushy, but I feel very strongly about this. Any help you guys want to give for this girl, Traana, would be greatly appreciated.

I sent the reporter an email regarding this. I asked her if the school district had looked into the ADA laws. I hope this helps. If things don't change for this girl, I will continue to contact the reporter and see what else can be done.

Thanks for keeping us informed, Erin.

Take care,

I watched the video earlier today and have been fuming about it ever since. I know this isn't exact wording, but at one point it is stated that the desicion was based on the girl's well being and that of the other students on the trip. OTHER STUDENTS ON THE TRIP????? What are they worried about? That the other kids will have to watch her do her treatments and take her meds? That the other kids will catch CF or CFRD? That the kids will have to see how hard some people have to work to take care of thier health? The school district is missing a golden opportunity to impart some real-life lessons here. And yes, I realize that in "real-life" we can't always do everything we want to do, and sometimes life isn't fair...but how can they possibly make a case that allowing her to go will harm the others. If her mother consents, what right do they have to judge that she is not healthy enough to go? Oh, and, they should at least refund her WHOLE DEPOSIT if the are going to be such jerks. THere, I feel better. I will also be e-mailing the reporter.

This is the link to the school's contact page. It has the e-mail address of the super and the assistant super (who is the one who made the statement read in the video). I just sent an e-mail to both of them as well as the reporter just so that she can keep track of the responses her story is getting.

I dont understand why still? Are they afraid of being held liable should something happen? Are they afraid other kids might learn about an illness then anyone of them could be a carrier to or learn more compassion? Has me stumped!
