Low Grade Fever for 4 Months

<P><FONT size=1>I had a bad exacerbation in February and ever since then I have had a low grade fever on and off almost every day.  (Only rarely goes above 37.5)  Antibiotics lower it, some better than others, but a few days after I stop the fever appears again.  What's weird is that I don't necessarily feel "sick" when I have the fever, although I'm hot and know instantly that I have one.</FONT></P>
<P><FONT size=1>My pulmo suspected mycobacteria and did a bronchoscopy at the end of April.  Yesterday I found out all the cultures were negative.  The biopsy he did had a little bit of granulomas in it, which could point to sarcoidosis.  However, the pulmo looked at the slides himself (!) and isn't convinced.  He said he only saw one granuloma and that the size, shape, etc weren't convincing and that it might just be a "red herring."</FONT></P>
<P>I'm at my wits end about this.  Maybe I should just ignore the fever?!?!  </P>
<P>Right now I've been told to take antibiotics (alternating between Zeto and Doxylin - no quinolins because I had tendon pain with them) if the fever lasts a week.  But it always comes back after a few days, so I keep going back onto antibiotics even though I'm not coughing and don't have significant mucus.  Obviously I plan to go back to the pulmo and discuss all of this.</P>
<P>Have any of you experienced anything like this?  Any suggestions what questions to ask?</P>

I go in for a CT tomorrow morning but my doc is pretty sure it's not mycobacterium. <InvalidTag http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html;charset=UTF-8">I just started Minocycline and Bactrim, to start inhaled colistimethate once it arrives from the cf services pharmacy. <div><br></div><div>I have been tested for everything under the sun in the last 6 months ( I also has two episodes of rhabdomyalsis that were likely unrelated to my CF or antibiotics - I'm sure it was the fosomax but because I'm always on so many meds no one can be sure) and all were negative. </div><div><br></div><div>I hope you get it figured out soon and once you do let us know! I'm curious to know what is causing these continuing fevers. </div><div><br></div><div><br></div><div><br></div>

Can I ask what your fev1 usually runs? I have the same problem but my fev1 is 23% and my docs have said that at a certain point it's pretty much just a reflection of your body working harder burning energy and breathing. They aren't worried about it for me unless it's over 100.4

<P>Mine usually doesn't go above 37.5C (99.5F) and I don't usually feel particularly poorly, even though I know more normal temp is usually 35.9 - 36.5 (96.6-97.7F).  </P>
<P>I'm debating just ignoring it and only seeking treatment when I feel poorly.  Probably not overly smart since there's obviously something going on, but I'm getting fed up with dealing with the medical community.</P>

I have had that problem with fevers periodically. They just kind of come and go randomly, not always with sickness, and at times I've had them for months on end. Eventually I just began to monitor my temperature but not worry about the fevers unless they came with other symptoms.

I remember reading some posts about it on this site some time ago. Apparently it's not that uncommon. Some people said getting extra rest tended to make the fevers go away.

Strangely, often when I get sick I don't run a fever at all--it doesn't seem to make much sense.
