I had a bad exacerbation in February and ever since then I have had a low grade fever on and off almost every day. (Only rarely goes above 37.5) Antibiotics lower it, some better than others, but a few days after I stop the fever appears again. What's weird is that I don't necessarily feel "sick" when I have the fever, although I'm hot and know instantly that I have one.

My pulmo suspected mycobacteria and did a bronchoscopy at the end of April. Yesterday I found out all the cultures were negative. The biopsy he did had a little bit of granulomas in it, which could point to sarcoidosis. However, the pulmo looked at the slides himself (!) and isn't convinced. He said he only saw one granuloma and that the size, shape, etc weren't convincing and that it might just be a "red herring."

I'm at my wits end about this. Maybe I should just ignore the fever?!?!

Right now I've been told to take antibiotics (alternating between Zeto and Doxylin - no quinolins because I had tendon pain with them) if the fever lasts a week. But it always comes back after a few days, so I keep going back onto antibiotics even though I'm not coughing and don't have significant mucus. Obviously I plan to go back to the pulmo and discuss all of this.

Have any of you experienced anything like this? Any suggestions what questions to ask?
