Low Grade Fever for 4 Months

I have had that problem with fevers periodically. They just kind of come and go randomly, not always with sickness, and at times I've had them for months on end. Eventually I just began to monitor my temperature but not worry about the fevers unless they came with other symptoms.
<br />
<br />I remember reading some posts about it on this site some time ago. Apparently it's not that uncommon. Some people said getting extra rest tended to make the fevers go away.
<br />
<br />Strangely, often when I get sick I don't run a fever at all--it doesn't seem to make much sense.

<P>My sinuses seem pretty clear at the moment thanks to daily Nasocort, but it's a thought I will certainly keep in mind.</P>

<P>Jana, it's interesting that you've experienced the same thing.  Getting more rest is a great idea.  Figuring out how to do that will be the challenge.  If it worked for you though, it sounds like it might be worth the efforts.</P>

watch the documentary movie fat, sick and nearly dead. incredibly interesting...maybe with all the abx and meds in general your body is overloaded and you need to fast. I'm considering doing this myself. It's called Reboot. I've never had the fever you describe but I'm sick with regards to my addiction to sugar. I need to cut the embylical cord and probiotics aren't cutting it. Will a Microlytic diet fast, I don't know but what's the harm. I'm 5'3" and 138 lbs so I could stand to loose a few lbs. No concern there!

I had that same problem as well. The doctor told me that it could be normal and not to worry about it, but I know that's not me. So he said it could be reflux, I am seeing a specialist tomorrow. Have you been tested for reflux?

Chiming in to say check your sinuses.

My fevers started in October 2009. Doctor tried everything, including a two week course of IVs. The only thing that helped was prednisone. I mentioned in an off hand fashion that my ears got plugged up some times... my doctor cat-scanned me and found that my sinuses were absolutely, completely full of aspergillis. I could breathe fine and had no sinus pain at all. It was quite the surprise.

After sinus surgery, I was able to taper off the pred, which was impossible before. Fever still comes back now and then, but it is much improved.

I began running a chronic low grade fever in August 2009. I did not have pulmonary symptoms at that time. However, over the next few months I did begin experiencing worsening pulmonary symptoms. Worsening delayed gastric emptying and reflux preceded my fevers. In January 2011 I experienced mild hemoptysis for the first time. I was treated with IV antibiotics for two weeks. Then a few weeks later on February 20, 2011 I experienced massive hemoptysis after having reflux all day and drinking a bottle of water. My CF doctor believes my fevers and hemoptysis are caused by Aspergillus; however, I believe my fevers/hemoptysis is caused by aspirated gastric contents refluxing into my lungs. I already take a PPI to reduce acid and pro-motility medication to speed up gastric emptying.

My lung function, on paper, looks good. But I am always exhausted, running a fever, and experience hemoptysis streaks regularly. The only antibiotics that help me are Augmentin and Zosyn, which treat anaerobes. I consulted two GI doctors and neither believe reflux of undigested gastric contents are playing a role in my fevers or hemoptysis. I believe they are wrong. Until someone figures out what is going on--or believes me--I am stuck in a never-ending battle dealing with feeling horrible all day everyday, running fevers, and coughing up blood.

I culture: Ralstonia Mannitolilytica, Pseudomonas, and Aspergillus.
FEV1 runs in the 90's but this is while on antibiotics. I can't even remember my lung function without antibiotics because I have been on them pretty much all of 2011.

I had that problem for a year, in fact it will be a year on Thanksgiving, right after I got intubated, I never recovered, always short of breath, low grade fever, exhaustion, short of breath.

My local center did cultures an I tested positive for NTM. (two types) I had several positive cultures for it. I do know a girl who tested positive in her sputum sample but negative in her bronch.. I don't know.

Funny one of the doctors I got input from used the word red herring, I never heard that before he said it.

I would keep giving sputum samples.... I had no idea that that was a standard to do each time you go to the doctor, I give one every time now.. maybe if you keep giving one something will come up. also, have they done blood cultures on you to see if you have an infection elsewhere in your body?
