Low Sugar High Cal Food?

I don't know if this helps; but my daughter is 5 with CF. She likes peanuts, almonds, beef jerky. All good protein sources, fairly high cal, not sure of the sugar content, guess it would depend on the seasonings. Ensure also makes drinks for diabetics; I can't remember the name. You may want to check out this website www.cfnutrition4life. The creator of the site, Jody, has a son with CF and there are lots of healthy high cal recipes. Oh, I thought of if your child likes meat(also high cal) My daughter loves all things protein; salmon, meat, chicken, tilapia(fish). HTH.

if you want to stick with good (mostly) fats then I would suggest: nuts, avacados (think guacomole, or just plain with a splash of lime, or in a salad), guacomole, all forms regular fat dairy (not as good but pretty good).

Well I have CF related diabetes so I'll just list off the normal stuff I eat. All of this is low in sugar and medium to high calories.

Snacks: beef jerky, nuts (peanuts, cashews), olives, cheese, deli meats (salami, pepperoni, ham etc), guacamole, cheese dip with tortilla chips, potato chips, nutella or other spreads on crackers

Meals: Hamburgers/cheeseburgers, fried or baked chicken, turkey devonshire sandwich (open faced turkey sandwich with tomatoes and bacon on top, covered in cheese.. yum!), steaks with baked potato with sour cream/butter, french fries with cheese or gravy topping, chicken or steak salad with fries on top, bacon sandwiches, fried zucchini, homemade quesedilla with various fillings (lots of cheese, olives, seasonings, chicken), hearty soups/stews (wedding soup for example)

that's just a few ideas, just ask me if you need more. what kind of stuff were you looking for?
