Lung Transplant Criteria

I know the other thread was closed; but I wanted to discuss some of the odd things that you can be denied transplant for.

It alarmed me to read the part about narcotic use that nick9742 posted. I have a CF related arthritis that once in a while flares up, and makes my entire body so painful... it hurts to swallow, breathe, much less walk. When its this bad, I take percacet to make it through the day. It isn't often or anything, and I don't need a transplant tomorrow, but maybe I should talk to someone about this? It concerns me that I might unknowingly be denying myself transplant. And, since that's the only thing I've found really helps the pain at that point, not taking it concerns me too!! Anyone know more about this? Or know of other unexpected criteria??

Thanks!!,
Kris

I am far from an expert in this area, but I would "think" that its the "illegal" drugs that are in question unless the prescription drugs are being abused.....no medical justification & such.

IF the criteria includes pain meds or other drugs that are prescription I would think that drastically reduces the number of being eligible for tx then.

I am assuming there is an actual "list" of do/donts for tx, but I, personally, havent taken the time to look it up. Maybe someone who has already been through a tx has that handy!

@Kris: Have you tried any natural anti-inflammatories or a strong anti-inflammatory diet at all?

I missed the first post is there a list somewhere that shows the things that can deny you for a transplant? I would really be intresterd in seeing it!
