Maggie has a baby sister

Ohhh...Congrats! I hope the timem passes fast, and you get your results. I went nuts the first few days after Bailey was born. I googled poop and poop picutures. I was on edge the entire time until I got the phone call. It's really hard..Try and enjoy your two little girls. I'll have you and your famlly in my prayers.

Well. Katie's IRT levels were normal!!!!!! We go in for a sweat test on Thursday morning. I am feeling good, but also sad. It was like hearing that Maggie has CF all over again. My heart is broken for her again and I'm crying over CF again. I spent the pregnancy trying to find positives of the baby having CF and had focused on the two of them having each other to understand what it's like to live with CF. Now I feel like Maggie will be alone in it... even though I know she will be okay. It will be hard, but it will be okay. I will update when we get the results of the sweat test and I'm sure I will be looking for advice no matter what the results.

I'm so glad to hear the results were normal. <img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif" border="0"> I do understand your mixed feelings... compounded by the emotions running rampant so soon after birth, it must be a whirlwind of feelings right now! But congratulations on the birth of your daughter and I hope all is going smoothly.

Will she be tested for the df508 gene just to be sure? It's the simplest genetic test to get and will lay the issue to rest for good.

Yeah for normal IRT levels. I hope the sweat test is normal too. It's ok to celebrate health for your new baby Katie. It's what we want for our children. Maggie is not in it alone, She has a wonderful family and a new baby sister who will be her partner in crime<img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-wink.gif" border="0">...That little baby is going to look up to Maggie; you'll see.

My older son does not have CF; but my daughter does...It's nice to have someone who treats Maggie totally like a bratty little sister and look way beyond the CF. Sammy is a wonderful big brother who is empathic as well.

Thanks, everybody. I am feeling better today. Anxious for the sweat test though. It only takes a few hours to get the results, right?
@Harriett - CF doc will be checking her genetics too. At least that's what he told me when we spoke about this in October at Maggie's last clinic visit. Since we know we are looking for DF508 it makes it easy and he wants to have done everything he can to rule out CF and give us peace of mind!
@Aleksandra - I'm thinking of you as you go through these final days of pregnancy. Please let us know (as soon as you can) when this baby is born!
