Magnesium supplements

Well, I have read a little on it (including an article about Pulmozyme not working as well for people with low magnesium- I've had to up mine to twice a day in the last year or so), plus a few other symptoms that may/may not mean I'm low (all my vitamins this last go around of tests were either low or borderline), and wanted to find so reliable information about them (tests, what type to take if I need it, side effects, etc.), and wondered if anyone could help? Thanks.

there is a blood test for magnesium. ive heard its not very accurate in the sense that if the reading comes back normal you might still have a deficiency, but if it comes back low then you know you definitely have a deficiency. you want to avoid magnesium oxide. i take chelated magnesium. i was put on it for leg movement in my sleep but i dont think it did much but i keep taking it anyway because my blood levels were low and it might help with other things.

Oddly you should ask about this Chaggie aka Chris was talking about this the other day..

I was just in the hospital and my Mag level was very low... I got a lot of Mag IV to give me a boost and I just bought a supplement to take daily.. Mine is just plain magnesium.. I have 400 MGs and I am going to take it twice a day..

I also just got potassium because mine was low as well

I hope a lot of ppl post back because I would love to see what they are on..

dramamama woudl be a good one to ask about this she has done alot of research. I think I have one of her other articles about mg and aminoglycoside antibiotics robbing you of your mg and a correlation to hearing loss. I will see if I still have it.

I started taking a mg supplement when on IV's and will at least finish out htis bottle.
