mail order pharmacy question

We are not required to use our mail order pharmacy but choose to because when doing so we get three months of drugs but only have to pay for two months of co-pays.

Yes, you might have a couple of day delay in treatment if just getting started, but I never found it to be a problem yet because once you get going they allow us to order product one month in advance, so every two months I get three months worth of product so we are ahead on everything. Also Tobi and Pulmozyme are cold items and have to be shipped overnight and Cigna does not charge anything for items that have to be overnighted.

Good idea about carrying the pharmacy numbers with me. I'm just a little annoyed because I've spent the last year trying to create a good relationship with our pharmacist so that it was a more personal process and that I wouldn't have to worry about warm pulmozyme as I've read on here. And now I'm just going to be a number in walgreens specialty pharmacy's computer. <img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-disgusted.gif" border="0">

We dealt with CF Services for DS's adeks and tobi (when we were under the Tobi Foundation program) and we had a few glitches when we actually had to speak with the customer service reps. Wouldn't get the ADEKs at first after I called it in because it "wasn't covered under our insurance, so they weren't sure if we wanted it or not" -- hello? I called it IN! And with the Tobi foundation, we couldn't just call the customer service number or go online -- this was a couple years ago -- we had to call a designated number and they'd tell us it was on the way, only to find out that someone dropped the ball and it hadn't been shipped.

We had no problem whatsoever when we go onto their website and go thru their refill process that why. Just got sticky, annoying having to deal with a real person. And I think things have changed significantly in the past couple of years regarding their customer service.

The first time Tobi was prescribed for my son, the CF clinic gave us a few days worth to take home while we waited for the delivery. The clinic nurse took care of calling the prescription in to the mail order pharmacy so that any questions of approval were taken care of during that phone call.
