mail order pharmacy question

We have medco and they too just recently made it to where we have to mail order Briceton's prescriptions with them. He gets his Tobi and Pulmozyme from them and so far so great.....everything has arrived on time and it cost a bit cheaper then when we got it from the local pharmacy

Also, we are alowed to fill a "specialty prescription" twice at a retail pharmacy before it HAS to be mail ordered by Medco. I guess that way, you are offered access to your prescription immediately if prescribed overnight or to have it that day. Over 2 refills you have to pay full retail price for the medication.

I'm just a little annoyed because I've spent the last year trying to create a good relationship with our pharmacist so that it was a more personal process and that I wouldn't have to worry about warm pulmozyme as I've read on here.</end quote></div>

Okay we are the same person today; Medco is requiring us to use their specialty mail-order pharmacy effective 1-1-08 for TOBI and Pulmozyme. I'm going to try to get out of it because of the SAME reasons you cite. I too have been cultivating a relationship with our local pharmacist. I don't want to deal with five different places to get everything filled. Wah, wah, wah, I know, but geez life is complicated enough. And I don't want some nurse calling me on the phone to "help me" with a med she can't pronounce.

If I'm successful in my protest I'll let you know how I did it. Oh, and by the way, it is ALL ABOUT THE MONEY no matter how they try to sell it as a benefit to the patient with special follow up, etc. B.S.!

edited to add: Okay I see now Tami that they couldn't say the medicine name because they were trying to make sure you were you; okay that annoys me even more!

I work for Express Scripts mail order pharmacy & my biggest suggestion is not to wait until the last minute. Abx most of the time can still be filled locally & most of the time tobi, pulmozyme & colistin & HTS go through our specialty pharmacy curascript sometimes the enzymes do also depending on the plan. Curascript is really quick. I always recommend to our patients to have atleast 1 month on hand. PM me if you have any specific questions about express scripts & i will try to help if i can.
