Thanks for clarifying. I think my brain went to sleep when I wrote my post. Interesting about the GSH. My son has been taking oral GSH for a long time.

Thanks so much for the info. I printed it out and will discuss with our CF doctor. Aidan does nebulized Mucomyst which is the NAC. Is GSH similar? I still am so unsure if I should push for the maintenance Zithro.

Our CF nurse is concerned that since Zithro works so well for Aidan when he's sick that if we use it regularly, he will become resistant and then what will we use? He has negative rxns to some other antibiotics. I hate that there is no clear cut answer!

Hi There

trying to do a quote but still havent worked out how! Anyhow, Personally I think the Zithro is great when there's a problem with chronic pseudo infection...it stops the inflammation and breaks down the bio film that stops the antibiotics from attacking the pseudo.

I have my son on Zithro and GSH (oral). The Mucomyst your son is on should have similar effects as GSH (NAC produces Glutathione GSH).

If your child has a problem with pseudo then I would suggest asking about it.

Thanks for the info. The issue is that Aidan has never cultured PA. He is just plagued with constant serious sinus infections from the Staph. Two docs think the Zithro would keep the Staph under control. One thinks if we tamper with Staph too much, the PA will creep up.
