Also, when I was little I liked getting something everyday. It gave me something to look forward to. I remember one of my first visits we knew i'd be there three weeks so my Grandma sent me a box of 21 wrapped gifts numbered 1-21. That was so much fun. They weren't huge things, a slinky, silly putty, bubbles, crap like that. But it was fun to unwrap after luch and it was NEW so that was something to fight the battle of boredom.</end quote></div>

This is a great idea, and I think I'll borrow it, with all due credits to your grandmother!!!

Hi I'm new here and I have a 6 year old boy with CF. His most recent hospitalization was Jun 18 - July 2. Usually the only thing I need to bring is things for me. And the hospital we go to has just about everything for the kids. A playstation 2 and tv in every room. They have a video cart that comes around with movies and games. The only thing is he can not go to the toy room so I have to go and pick out toys to bring back to him. They have a group called Child Life that comes around also. They bring crafts and play with the children. It does get very boring at times in there though. So make sure you have magazines and things for yourself.
The dietary was extrememly nice. The meals are not scheduled at certain times anymore. You just call and order when they are hungry. Someone comes to your room and takes your order. Austin really loved calling to tell him he was hungry. Even though he didnt eat half of the time. He loved pineaples and I was joking about getting one of the huge cans from dietary and while he was playing they came up and had opened one of their huge cans and placed it in a bowl with a lid in his fridgerator. They have fridges in their rooms also and a shower that the parents can also use. So just think of things she may want that she plays with all the time at home and bring that for her to play with.

I don't know if anyone else has ever enjoyed this one perk, but it's our favorite. It's called a "pass". Our childrens hospitals allows us to leave each day for a few hours (btw treatments). It's great, we can go to a local park, local store and even enjoy a meal at a resturaunt. We usually get around 3 hrs per pass. The hospital itself dosen't offer them, you need to ask you doctor. If he agrees he can write the pass but so many hours and then you can work it out with your iv treatments. It dosen't hurt to ask and it can save your sanity to just get out of there for a little while.
