Their OB said that men who carry CF gene are often infertile, something to do with vas deferens not connecting to seminal fluid canals<img src=""></end quote></div>

IF this is what the OB said then the OB is WRONG! It is possible that they heard wrong. As Tom pointed out.....being a carrier doesnt cause the absense of the vas deferens......but 98% of males WITH CF have the absense of it. This also doesnt mean "infertile". It just means that they cant get the sperm to the egg the old fashion way. Medical intervention is available for that.

My husband and I are carriers of the DF508. We didn't have anyone in our families that have CF either so it was a shock. I would maybe advise them that when and if they are ready to join us on here. It is tough to find this out. My sister and brother were both carriers but my brother g/f wasn't and my sisters husband never was tested but their two girls do not have CF.

Luckily now days a diagnosis isn't a death sentence. My oldest is 9 and my youngest is 3 and I do not know what I would do if they didn't have CF. CF becomes a way of life. Good luck and they are in my thoughts and prayers. <img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif" border="0">
